Button Sizes

Buttons have been used since the 13th century, and the button date is much older than the meter system. For this reason, a different measurement system is used when talking about button sizes. This measurement system used as “Ligne” in French actually means “line” . This unit, which is represented by the letter “L” as an emblem, is still actively used in button sizes in today’s textile industry. When calculating the button lengths, 1 ligne corresponds exactly to 0,635 mm. Thus, the button manufacturers not only maintain their own values but also supply the buttons that the textile sector needs. As Plassan Button we can make various buttons starting from 12L up to 72L size. Although buttons made from natural materials such as corozo buttons, mother of pearl buttons cannot be produced in very large sizes, polyester button and plastic buttons can be produced in very large sizes according to the needs of our customers.
